The 12-track album includes the singles “High Hopes 3000” and “Joy.”
Tucker Pillsbury, better known as ROLE MODEL, dropped his third studio album today, and the title alone tells you where his head’s been. Released via Interscope, Chuck Timely & the Hourglass marks the singer-songwriter’s third studio album, and he began working on it back in early 2025.
The record is named for an alter ego Pillsbury built the whole project around. He’s still getting to know Chuck Timely, the narrator of the album, but two things are clear: Timely leans hard into Bruce Hornsby, Fleetwood Mac, and yacht-rock influences, and he’s single and actively looking for love. Pillsbury has been quick to point out that despite the character framing, nothing here is fiction. He describes the album as drawing directly from his own experiences during a period of soul-searching between relationships, asking himself whether love comes around on its own or whether he needs to come around to it.
One of the more talked-about details: Pillsbury has opened up about his relationship with actress Dakota Johnson, who is featured on the track “Love I You.” The album itself was announced May 28, with “High Hopes 3000” landing as the lead single June 3, followed by “Joy” as the second single on July 10. Pillsbury is taking the record on the road too — he’ll be joined by Samia and Keni Titus for the Chuck on Tour run, kicking things off with a hometown show at Thompson’s Point in Maine on release day.
Critics have responded warmly. NME’s Jordan Bassett called it Role Model’s “most likeable album yet.”
