A decade after debuting as one of K-pop’s most genre-bending acts, NCT 127 is finally ready to mark the occasion the way they know best: with a new album. On July 27, SM Entertainment confirmed that the group’s seventh full-length record, “BLINGY,” will land on August 24 at 6 p.m. KST, arriving in both digital and physical formats at once.
The nine-track project is more than just a comeback. It’s the centerpiece of NCT 127’s 10th anniversary campaign, closing out a chapter that began with the group’s debut in July 2016 while signaling where they go from here. According to the label, the record reflects on the group’s decade-long journey and their commitment to moving forward together as a team.
Their First Album in Two Years
“BLINGY” ends a notably long wait for fans. It’s NCT 127’s first major release since “Walk” came out in July 2024, a gap of roughly 25 months that’s unusually long for a group of this profile. The countdown officially started at midnight KST on July 27, when the group dropped its first teaser, and physical preorders opened the same day.
The album also carries some weight beyond the music itself. It’s the first NCT 127 full-length project released without former member Mark, who left both NCT and SM Entertainment in April following a mutual agreement. The remaining seven members — Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, and Haechan — reaffirmed their commitment to the group just weeks before the announcement, signing exclusive contract extensions with SM on July 15.
A Five-Member Comeback, For Now
Not all seven will be front and center for this era. Doyoung and Jungwoo are currently completing mandatory military service in South Korea, a rite of passage nearly every male K-pop idol eventually faces. That leaves Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, and Haechan to carry the promotional lineup for “BLINGY,” a smaller configuration than fans are used to but one that’s become increasingly common across SM’s rosters as members cycle through enlistment.
SM Entertainment described the album as a release that looks back on the group’s journey while opening a new chapter, one built on “the pride, confidence and strong bond that continue to define the group.” It’s a fitting mission statement for a group whose entire identity has been built on pushing sonic boundaries rather than playing it safe.
Ten Years of Reinvention
Since debuting in 2016, NCT 127 has built a reputation on unpredictability — genre-hopping between hip-hop, electronic, and hard-hitting performance tracks with releases like “Fire Truck,” “Cherry Bomb,” “Regular,” “Kick It,” “Sticker,” “Fact Check,” and “Walk.” That run has translated into consistent commercial success, including multiple top 10 debuts on the Billboard 200, among them “Sticker: The 3rd Album.” “BLINGY” now becomes part of SM’s broader “NCT 2026: Everything, All at Once, Neo” campaign, the label’s overarching celebration of the group’s anniversary year.
What Comes After the Album
The release is just the opening move in a packed few months. Before “BLINGY” even drops, NCT 127 will headline KCON LA on August 14, sharing the bill at Crypto.com Arena and the Los Angeles Convention Center with acts including Tomorrow X Together, Treasure, ZEROBASEONE, and ILLIT.
Then comes the real test of the era: NCT 127’s fifth world tour, “Neo City — The Redline,” which kicks off September 18 at Seoul’s KSPO Dome before heading to Jakarta, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and Taipei. Like the album’s promotional run, the tour will move forward without Mark, Doyoung, or Jungwoo — a reminder that this anniversary era is as much about adaptation as celebration.
For a group that’s spent ten years refusing to repeat itself, “BLINGY” arrives as both a victory lap and a proof of concept: that NCT 127’s identity was never tied to any one lineup, but to the sound and spirit the seven-turned-five members keep finding new ways to deliver.
