About NewJeans (뉴진스)

NewJeans (뉴진스) is a South Korean teenage girl group that made their debut on July 22, 2022, under the label ADOR. The group consists of five talented members: Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.

The journey of NewJeans began with an announcement by HYBE (then known as BigHit Entertainment) in July 2019, revealing that Min Hee Jin would be leading a new girl group project in collaboration with BigHit and Source Music through the Plus Global Audition. Later, in late 2021, HYBE disclosed that the group would debut in 2022 under their new independent subsidiary label, ADOR, with Min as the CEO.

Before their official debut, the members engaged in pre-debut activities, showcasing their talents in the entertainment industry. Hyein was part of Play With Me Club, while Hanni and Minji appeared in the music video for BTS' hit song “Permission to Dance.”

On July 22, 2022, NewJeans marked their debut with the release of their debut song "Attention." Following that, they released their second lead track, "Hype Boy," and a B-side titled "Hurt."

The group's eponymous debut EP and their third lead single, "Cookie," were released on August 1, 2022. The EP set an impressive record, achieving the highest opening week sales for a girl group's debut album in South Korea, with over 300,000 album sales in the first week of release.

After their successful debut, NewJeans received recognition, winning the 2022 The Fact Music Award in the Next Leader category and earning a nomination for Best Female Rookie at the 2022 Genie Music Awards.

ADOR confirmed on October 18 of the same year that the group was preparing for their first-ever comeback. The pre-release single, "Ditto," was released on December 19, along with two music videos, and was followed by their first album, "OMG."

In July 2023, NewJeans delighted fans with two pre-release singles, "Super Shy" and "New Jeans," as part of their upcoming mini-album, "Get Up." Surprisingly, "New Jeans" and the "Get Up" album featured a special collaboration with The Powerpuff Girls to celebrate the animated series' 25th anniversary.
