Two years of nonstop momentum, one lineup scare, and a member’s ongoing health hiatus could have slowed any group down. BABYMONSTER used all of it as fuel instead. On May 4, the group released 춤 (CHOOM), their third mini album, and within a day, Hanteo Chart confirmed nearly 390,000 copies sold — a new first-day record for the group. By the time fans across different time zones woke up, CHOOM had already claimed the top spot on iTunes Top Albums charts in fifteen regions worldwide.
The title says everything about where BABYMONSTER’s head is right now. 춤 simply means “dance” in Korean, and rather than building the record around a breakup or a single storyline, the group leaned into movement itself — the idea that dancing through pressure, doubt, and distance is still dancing. It’s a fitting theme for a group that has spent the better part of two years proving its staying power one comeback at a time.
That staying power has been tested. Main vocalist Rami has been on an extended hiatus since May 2025 after health issues, including a diagnosed pneumothorax, forced her to step back from group activities. YG Entertainment has kept updates minimal, and CHOOM arrived with the remaining members — Ahyeon, Asa, Chiquita, Pharita, Rora, and Ruka — carrying the promotion on their own. Fans have stayed vocal about wanting Rami back, and the group has continued to acknowledge her presence during fan interactions even while she stays out of the spotlight.
None of that slowed the rollout down. BABYMONSTER hosted a comeback livestream on release day, walking fans through the choreography for the title track and answering questions in real time. The performance reinforced what’s become the group’s signature: sharp, high-impact choreography paired with vocals that hold their own without much studio polish to lean on.

“Locked In” closes the record on its most romantic note, trading the title track’s confidence for something warmer and more devoted. It’s a small shift in tone, but it gives the four-song mini album a clear emotional arc instead of songs that all hit the same note.
The release isn’t a standalone moment, either. BABYMONSTER kicks off their 춤 (Choom) World Tour on June 26 with a three-night residency at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, before heading to Japan for six city stops and eventually expanding into Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the Americas through 2027. A second full-length album is reportedly being planned for later in the year, which would make 2026 the busiest stretch of BABYMONSTER’s three-year career.
With CHOOM, BABYMONSTER isn’t just following up a strong debut era. They’re showing that a lineup change, a health scare, and two years of pressure haven’t broken their rhythm — they’ve sharpened it.
